2. This weekend is another whitewater dam release date on the Lehigh River in Jim Thorpe, where you can paddle through 17 sets of rapids while surrounded by mountains in the state park. There is also a two-day overnight biking package in Jim Thorpe offered this weekend, for folks who want to enjoy the scenery on a pair of wheels.

The tri-state's largest outdoor juried arts festival features collectors, buyers, and designers visiting Main Street for the 34th iteration of this well-attended event.

4. Glad midsommar! Hoist the maypole for Midsommarfest (Midsummerfest) in Philadelphia, as the American Swedish Historical Museum celebrates this magical time with traditional folk music, food, flower crowns, and activities.

Dance in celebration of summer and eat smörgåstårta, a layered dish somewhere between a sandwich and a cake. Tickets are $5, and children under 5 are free.
