9 Juveniles Captured After Escape From Eastern PA Detention Center
Nine juvenile offenders escaped from Abraxas Academy in Morgantown Sunday night after a riot at the detention center.

MORGANTOWN, PA — Nine juvenile inmates who escaped from a detention center in Berks County late Sunday night were captured on Monday morning, authorities said. The break out came just days after the conclusion of the two-week search for convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante, who got out of Chester County Prison miles away.
A riot occurred at around 8 p.m. Sunday at Abraxas Academy, a multi-service youth treatment facility in Morgantown hich also serves as a secure detention center.
The riot threw the Academy into chaos, during which authorities apparently lost control of the facility. State and local police said they "took back control" of the center early Monday, but in the midst of the incident, nine "offenders" managed to escape.

A search perimeter was set up, bounded by I-76, 176, and Route 10. The area was heavily wooded.
By around 5:45 a.m., four of the boys who were tired and cold knocked on the door of a nearby home and effectively turned themselves in, authorities said.

Just under an hour later, the other five stole a vehicle and a trailer on Oak Grove Road. Pennsylvania State Police were able to capture the teens shortly therafter.
The escaped teens were all between the ages of 15 and 17, authorities confirmed.
