Big Shift In PA's Weekend Weather Forecast

Heavy rain could lead to flash flooding over the weekend as storms move in late Saturday, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

According to the latest weather forecast, showers and storms are likely late Saturday through early Sunday morning.

Rain rates near two inches per hour could be possible with stronger storms, and some of the storms may lead to flash flooding.

The highest risk for rain is Saturday evening into Sunday morning, the NWS said.

Though showers are expected to end Sunday morning, clouds will dominate most of the day and a weak cold front could bring a stray shower or thunderstorm later on, according to a report from 2822 News.

Here's the latest weekend forecast from the NWS:

• Friday Afternoon: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. North wind around 5 MPH.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. West wind around 5 MPH becoming calm.
• Saturday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 82. East wind 5-10 MPH becoming southeast in the afternoon.
• Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., then showers after 2 a.m. Low around 69. Southeast wind 5-10 MPH becoming light in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Sunday: Showers before 11 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. High near 85. Calm wind becoming west around 5 MPH in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 69.
