PENNSYLVANIA — High schools around Pennsylvania are welcoming, or preparing to welcome, their students back to class for the 2023-24 school year.
Proud parents, students, and alumni might claim their school is the best of the best— and some of them have the evidence to back it up, according to the rankings of the best high schools in Pennsylvania from Niche.com and U.S. News and World Report.
In fact, a few public high schools in the Keystone State are among the best in the nation — rankings from U.S. News and World Report had the Julia R. Masterman Secondary School in Philadelphia and Downington STEM Academy among the top 100 schools in the United States.

The publishing company also ranked the best public and private schools in the state, based on six measures: college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment performance, state assessment proficiency, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance and graduation rates.

The platform combined user input — ratings from current students, alumni and parents — with quantitative data.
