Cheap Summer Movies Around PA: Regal, AMC, Cinemark
Summer movie magic traditions remain alive. Here's where to catch an affordable film near you.
Pennsylvania families looking for an inexpensive way to spend time together this summer may want to check out movie theaters in the area.
Several national and regional theater chains are bringing back summer discount movie programs, with tickets starting as low as $1 for select family-friendly films. Most programs are offered on weekday mornings or early afternoons, and participating locations, showtimes, taxes, and fees may vary.

Regal Summer Movie Express
Regal’s Summer Movie Express runs from now through Aug. 13 at more than 380 participating theaters nationwide. The chain is showing two PG-rated movies at 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday, with tickets priced at $1.
Regal has 14 theaters in Pennsylvania, including: Conshohocken, Dickson City, Downingtown, Easton, Harrisburg, Hazleton, King Of Prussia, Lancaster, Langhorne, Manayunk, Newtown Square, Philadelphia, Warrington, and York.

The lineup includes movies such as “Sing,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” “Kung Fu Panda 4,” “The Wild Robot,” “A Minecraft Movie,” “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” “Dog Man,” “Despicable Me 4,” “The Sandlot," and “Muppet Treasure Island.”
Regal is also offering $3 off a Snack Pack or Dippin’ Dots ice cream with the purchase of a Summer Movie Express ticket. A portion of admission proceeds benefits Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse
Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse offers family-friendly movies for $1.75 per ticket, plus applicable taxes. Participating theaters are hosting screenings on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. through Aug. 6, with select theaters offering additional showtimes during the week.
Cinemark has 8 theaters in Pennsylvania, including: Erie, Monaca, Monroeville, Moosic, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh (two locations), and Stroudsburg.
Cinemark’s lineup includes “Paddington,” “Sonic the Hedgehog,” “KPOP Demon Hunters Sing-Along,” “Shrek Forever After,” “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” “A Minecraft Movie,” “Dog Man,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “The Bad Guys 2," and “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie.”
The chain is also offering $1 off snack packs and popcorn-and-drink combos during Summer Movie Clubhouse showtimes.
AMC Summer Movie Camp
AMC Theatres is offering Summer Movie Camp now through Aug. 12, with kid-friendly movies on Mondays and Wednesdays for $3 per ticket. Prices may vary by location.
AMC has 22 locations in Pennsylvania: Allentown, Bensalem (2), Bloomsburg, Camp Hill, Center Valley, Duncansville, Greensburg, Homestead, Mechanicsburg, Mt. Lebanon, North Wales, Philadelphia (2), Plymouth Meeting, Pottsgrove, Reading, Selinsgrove, Springfield, West Chester, Williamsport, and Wyomissing.
Reported showtimes are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., though families should check their local AMC before going. The lineup includes “Paddington in Peru,” “David,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “The LEGO Movie,” “Sonic the Hedgehog 3, "The Bad Guys 2,” “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants," and “Muppet Treasure Island.”
A portion of proceeds supports the Will Rogers Charity.
Marcus Theatres And Movie Tavern
Marcus Theatres and Movie Tavern are offering Kids Movie Magic now through Aug. 13. Tickets are $3, plus tax, for a different family movie each week.
The chain has locations in Collegeville, Flourtown, Allentown, and Exton.
Families can also buy a $15 Kids Movie Magic Passport, which includes one ticket to all 10 titles in the series. The lineup includes “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie,” “Charlie the Wonderdog,” “Buffalo Kids,” “Dog Man,” “Paddington,” “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” “The Pout-Pout Fish,” “Curious George,” “Sesame Street: Follow That Bird," and “The Muppet Movie.”
Marcus is also offering discounted concessions during Kids Movie Magic showings, including $3.50 sodas, $3.50 popcorn, and $3 hot dogs.
