Fireworks And Kid-Friendly Events To Ring In 2024 Around Philly Area

See what is going on around the southeast Pennsylvania, as we get ready to ring in the new year.

PENNSYLVANIA — Still looking for something to do on New Year's Eve and/or New Year's Day? Patch found a number of events going on around southeast Pennsylvania, from the annual Philadelphia Mummer's Parade to seasonal light displays, kid-friendly events to ring in 2024, and a pajama brunch on Jan. 1.

The west side of City Hall is transformed into a winter wonderland, featuring a variety of local makers selling their handmade crafts. Free admission. Hours are 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.

"A Christmas Carol" at People's Light in Malvern, Saturday and Sunday (recommended for ages 6 and up)

This holiday classic, adapted from Charles Dickens' original, runs through Dec. 31 and features traditional English carols as well as original music. Show times are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.

LuminoCity at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center (family-friendly)

Running through Jan. 15, Thursday-Monday (excluding holidays)

New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the Waterfront in Philadelphia, Sunday (family-friendly)

There are two shows for this end-of-year spectacular, each with a different theme: “LET THE GAMES BEGIN” to tease the famous Olympic Games, and a “Have a Philly New Year” production. Fireworks can be viewed for free along the Waterfront at a number of locations, or on NBC10 Philadelphia and Telemundo62 at 6 pm.

Shady Brook Farm Holiday Light Show (family-friendly)

Dazzling drive-through show open nightly through Jan. 8, including on New Year’s Day.

"A Very Furry Christmas" at Sesame Street Philadelphia (family-friendly, of course)

Sesame Place will ring in 2024 with a fireworks celebration at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and is also open New Year’s Day. The park will offer a variety of holiday attractions and activities, including Sesame Street-themed rides, exciting entertainment, and winter treats. (Read more on Patch.)

Philadelphia Mummer’s Parade, Monday (family-friendly)

The famous, festive folk parade starts at City Hall at 9 a.m. New Year’s Day and moves south to Washington Avenue via Broad Street. Click here for more information on road closures and parking restrictions.

New Year’s pajama brunch at White Dog Cafe (locations in Philadelphia, Haverford, Wayne, and Glen Mills), Monday (family-friendly)

Roll up to White Dog in your best PJs for a cozy brunch to kick off the New Year, and maybe soak up some of the champagne from the night before! Brunch available until 3 p.m.
