Fish For Free Day Is Coming Up In PA: What To Know

For one day this Memorial Day weekend, you don't need a license to fish in Pennsylvania. Popular trout waters and more:

PENNSYVLANIA — This Sunday, May 28 is Fish For Free Day in Pennsylvania, meaning that anyone is able to legally fish in Pennsylvania waters without a fishing license.

The biannual event, sponsored by the PA Fish & Boat Commission, is also held on the Fourth of July.

Trout and salmon permits are also not required.

For those looking to fish specifically for trout, there is a trout map of PA indicating all stocked waters statewide. Trout opening day for 2023 was just last month, so trout streams are still running full.

Weather Sunday looks perfect for fishing, with a balmy springtime high in the upper 70s and low in the mid 50s in most of the state, according to Accuweather.
