4 PA Employers On Fortune’s 100 Best Companies List
Four PA companies made the list, which is based on a Great Place To Work survey that measures how employees feel about their workplace.
PENNSYLVANIA — Four companies with headquarters in Pennsylvania have been named to Fortune’s 100 Best Companies To Work For list.
Fortune’s list is based on a Great Place To Work survey that measures how employees feel about where they work, as well as the key behaviors that drive trust in management, connection with colleagues and loyalty to the company.

Comcast (ranked #9), headquartered in Philadelphia.
The parent company of NBCUniversal employs about 130,000 people, 93 percent of which say this is a great place to work. This company is dedicated to attracting and retaining women and people of color at leadership positions, and aims to be carbon neutral by 2035. The Fortune ranking also mentioned Comcast's Lift Zones program, which provides free Wi-Fi access in neighborhood community centers around the country.

Power Home Remodeling (ranked #13), headquartered in Chester.
This company in the homebuilding industry employs about 2,985 people and prioritizes leadership development and putting employees first according to the Fortune ranking. Power Home Remodeling is dedicated to addressing the lack of female representation in the construction industry and trains its talent acquisition department to promote equitable hiring practices.
SAP America (ranked #52), headquartered in Newton Square.
This enterprise software application company has been on the Top 100 list for seven years in a row because of its focus on employee well-being, as well as diversity and inclusion, according to Fortune.
Nine out of ten employees here say they feel comfortable being themselves in the workplace, and one said company leaders " are truly concerned with the human side of their employees and understand that a happy employee is the ultimate strategy to keep customers happy.” About 25,800 people work at SAP America.
Sheetz (ranked #58), headquartered in Altoona, is on the Best Companies to Work For list for nine years.
The company supports the diversity of employees and workers are able to participate in the Sheetz Employee Stock Ownership Plan while receiving bonuses four times a year.
Workers facing financial hardship due to illness, injury, domestic violence, or funeral expenses can apply to receive up to $2,500 per year to help. The company employs about 23,300 people.
In the confidential survey using a five-point scale, employees answered 60 questions about their organization’s culture. Two open-ended questions were also included.
Specifically, the questions dealt with whether leaders are accessible, communicate honestly and clearly, and if their actions match their words. Employees also weighed in on whether they feel respected as individuals, if they receive training benefits, appreciation, support for their well-being and opportunities to contribute.
The results are calculated across demographic groups and roles within each organization to assess how widely the employee experience is shared.
Employers are asked for feedback, answering six questions to suss out which have developed the most generous, caring and innovative programs to meet their employees’ diverse needs both at and away from work, as validated by the employee survey results.
