LANCASTER, PA — A 24-year-old woman faces murder charges after causing the death of her 82-year-old grandmother in Lancaster County last week, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

State police arrived to a Sigman Road residence in Providence Township on Friday morning, on the report of a domestic dispute, according to officials. Police discovered that an 82-year-old woman in the home had fallen to the ground and hit her head on the wall, officials said.

The woman, Mary Sigman, had lost consciousness and was suffering from cardiac arrest, according to a report filed by State Police Trooper James Grothey. Emergency medical personnel were able to find a pulse, and transported her to Lancaster General Hospital. She was pronounced dead at the hospital, Grothey said.

Grothey said that an investigation revealed that Mary's granddaughter, Shasta Sigman, pushed Mary during a domestic dispute. This caused the older woman to fall and "forcefully" hit her head on the wall, officials said.

Officials charged Shasta Sigman with third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and aggravated assault, said police. Court records show she is being held at the Lancaster County Prison without bail, after police filed charges against her on Monday.
