Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued Across Eastern PA Wednesday
A day after storms wiped out power for tens of thousands of residents in southeastern Pennsylvania, another round is approaching.
EASTERN PA — More heavy rain and thunderstorms are on the way to the Delaware Valley Wednesday, just a day after the latest round of severe weather left tens of thousands without power and shut down roads around the region.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in place from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday for the entire region, meaning that conditions are favorable for a storm across a broad area. A warning will be issued if thunderstorms are imminent in a specific location.
An excessive heat warning is also in place until 8 p.m., as the front will follow another blistering day. Temperatures are forecasted to saor to 97 degrees before the storms arrive at some point after 5 p.m.

"Like yesterday, thunderstorms will become common across the area by afternoon. Severe weather is possible," the National Weather Service's Mt. Holly, New Jersey branch said. "Remain aware."
Forecasters added that the storms may be severe and "could produce heavy rainfall." Up to half an inch is predicted for southeastern Pennsylvania, with much more than that possible where localized thunderstorms hit.
