Helene Moves North: How Storm Could Impact PA Weekend Forecast
Remnants of the powerful storm ravaging the south will arrive in the greater Philadelphia area over the coming days.

EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — The devastating Hurricane Helene that has left millions without power across the south and left several dead will make its presence felt in the greater Philadelphia over the coming days.
The local area appears likely to lie a little too far north to experience the most damaging impacts of Helene, which will be felt throughout the south and parts of the midwest this weekend.
Helene sat over Kentucky and Tennessee Friday morning and remnants of the storm will bring rain showers with the possibility of thunderstorms and heavier downpours over the coming days.

"Some showers will reach Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia and perhaps New York City, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C., but not Boston, and probably not Buffalo, New York," Accuweather said. "A long the mid-Atlantic coast to part of the central Appalachians, the moisture may be more in the form of drizzle and intermittent light rain."
While a rainy weekend is all but certain, the total amount of rain, and exact location is less clear.

Some drizzle is likely Friday, with stronger rain and possibly a thunderstorm approaching Friday night, the National Weather Service said. Up to a quarter inch of rain could fall Friday night, and another quarter inch of rain could fall again Saturday.
Some scattered showers, totaling around a tenth of an inch each day, will continue through next Tuesday, likely only falling in parts of the region, according to forecasters.
"Near the edge of the wet zone, low clouds and spotty drizzle may make for some gloomy conditions from Delaware to much of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, even where rain does not pour down," Accuweather added.
