DANVILLE, PA — Two weeks after he fell from his bunk bed and fractured his skull while staying at a Little League World Series player's dorm in Pennsylvania, Easton Oliverson is heading home to Utah.

While the 12-year-old player for Utah's Snow Canyon Little League team still has a long road of recovery ahead of him, the amount of progress the boy has made isn't lost on him or his family.

"Thank you for all of your prayers. Please keep praying for me as I continue to get better," Easton said in a video posted to Instagram. "I know the prayers and blessings have worked."

Easton, who pitches and plays outfield for Snow Canyon, was in Williamsport for the Little League Baseball World Series. He was injured when he fell out of bed in his sleep.

Easton suffered a brain bleed and fractures to his skull and cheekbone. At the hospital, he underwent surgery to stop the bleeding in his brain.

"(The doctors) said that there was a lot of blood in his brain and a lot of pressure being caused. He had what was called an epidural hematoma," Easton's father, Jace Oliverson, said in a statement posted to an Instagram account tracking the boy's progress. "He fractured his skull and punctured an artery outside the brain which caused the bleeding."

Since the accident, Easton has been treated at Geisinger Janet Weis Children's Hospital in Danville. On Friday, he underwent surgery to have his skull cap put back in place, according to a post on Instagram. A post-surgery photo shows him enjoying his favorite meal of nachos.

In a post shared Monday, Easton's family said he would be transferred to Salt Lake City on Tuesday.

"We can’t wait to have them just a little bit closer to home," his family shared. "While this is a great step forward, it’s bittersweet leaving behind the people that have put their heart and souls into Easton’s recovery. THANK YOU to each and every individual at Geisinger Hospital who played a role in taking care of and saving our boy.
