PA Brothers, Businessmen Killed In Avalanche
The Pennsylvania business community is in mourning after a tragedy in Canada.
PENNSYLVANIA — Two Pennsylvania businessmen and brothers were killed while on a skiing trip in British Columbia on Jan. 23, according to announcements from their company and authorities.
The incident occurred near the mountain resort of Revelstoke, about 250 miles west of Calgary, at around 2:46 p.m.
Both Jonathan Kinsley, the chief executive officer of real estate firm Kinsley Enterprises, and his brother Timothy Kinsley, president of Kinsley Properties, were caught in the slide and fully buried under snow.

The pair were wearing GPS transceivers which allowed rescuers to find them. They were extracted, flown to nearby Kelowna Airport, and then transported to Kelowna General Hospital. They were pronounced dead at the hospital, CMH Heli-Skiing, the company which outfitted their trip, said in a statement.

"Immediate action was taken on scene by all involved to locate the victims, provide first aid and transport by helicopter to hospital," Commander Sgt. Chris Dodds, with the Revelstoke branch of Canada's Royal Mountain Police, told the York Daily Record. "Ultimately, the efforts to save the lives of the two skiers were unsuccessful."
CMH Heli-Skiing said they were investigating the incident.
"The thousands of guests who ski with us each winter are our family," the organization said. "It is impossible to put into words the sorrow that we feel and the sadness that is shared by our guests, their families and all of our staff. "
In a statement, Kinsley said they were heartbroken by the incident.
"Our entire Kinsley family is still processing this heartbreaking news of their deaths and respectfully ask for privacy at this time," the company said. "We know their presence as dedicated leaders in our organization and the community will be immensely missed by many and we are grateful for your love, understanding and prayers as our entire Kinsley family manages this loss."
The York-based business has been family owned since it was founded in 1963.
