PA Healthcare Company To Lay Off Nearly 125 People

Guardian Healthcare Management Services filed a notice stating employees would be laid off from a Synder Township facility.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, PA — A Pennsylvania healthcare company plans to lay off nearly 125 people from its sister company after deciding to divest from skilled nursing, according to state records and a report.

Guardian Healthcare Management Services filed a WARN notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry notifying the state that it plans to lay off 124 people from a facility located at 8796 Rt. 219 in Snyder Township near Brockway.

According to a PennLive.com report, the company said the employees include remote workers and those working in other areas of the state.

Guardian Healthcare Management Services is part of Guardian Healthcare. The company provides billing and administrative support to Guardian Healthcare's skilled nursing facilities.

The first layoffs are expected to occur on March 8 and continue through the end of 2024, the company said in its filing.

"The decision to exit operations was not made lightly and was based on the challenging climate in the skilled nursing care industry," the company said in a statement to PennLive.com. "Guardian Healthcare Management Services wishes to thank all its loyal and tenured employees and will be working closely with them throughout the process."
