LEHIGH COUNTY, PA — A Slatington is facing multiple charges after authorities said he killed his roommate and dismembered his body before scattering the remains in multiple locations, according to police and county prosecutors.

Joshua Moser, 33, was charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in connection with the 37-year-old David Hittinger's death, LehighValleyLive.com reported.

According to an Action News 6 report, Hittinger was reported missing Monday afternoon when he failed to show up to his birthday celebration.

The friend who reported Hittinger missing later told police that Hittinger had moved in with Moser at his home in the 600 block of West Franklin Street, reports said.

Police obtained a warrant to search the home and found what was determined to be blood in the basement, where Hittinger had been staying, The Morning Call reported. Authorities said the basement had been hastily staged to conceal the evidence, but blood, hair, and skin were found in a nearby bathtub.

Authorities said Moser then dismembered the body and discarded the parts in three places including a cemetery, a quarry, and near a trail, all of which were in Lehigh County, according to reports.

Hittinger’s cause of death was not released pending an autopsy; however, Moser allegedly admitted choking him before striking him in the head with a hammer, LehighValleyLive.com reported.

Moser was arraigned Friday morning before and denied bail, reports said. He is due back in court on May 29.
