PA Teen With Autism Kidnapped, Found Dead; 8 Charged: Reports

Hayden Robert Garreffa​ was found stabbed to death in western Pennsylvania, two days after his grandmother reported him missing.

INDIANA COUNTY, PA — Eight people, including a 14-year-old girl, are facing charges after Pennsylvania State Police said they kidnapped an Edensburg teen whose body was discovered last weekend, according to multiple reports.

Hayden Robert Garreffa, 19, was found stabbed to death Saturday in Brush Valley Township, the Tribune-Democrat reported. Garreffa, who had autism, was stabbed numerous times in his upper body, neck, and head.

Garreffa's body was found Saturday, two days after his grandmother reported him missing, according to the Tribune-Democrat. A coroner ruled his death a homicide.

State police on Tuesday announced the arrests of eight people in connection with Garreffa's death, according to a WJAC-TV report. All were charged with kidnapping, WJAC reported. Criminal homicide charges are pending.

  • Jesse Wadsworth, 18, of Johnstown
  • Female juvenile, 14, of Johnstown

According to a criminal affidavit obtained by WJAC, Garreffa was "lured" from his grandmother's home by Buchkoski following an argument the pair had earlier that day. Buchkoski is Garreffa's cousin, the Tribune-Democrat reported.

During a news conference Tuesday, Trooper Cliff Greenfield said Garreffa was autistic and left home without his cell phone and medication, both of which "he never would have left behind," NBC Philadelphia reported.

Authorities have not released a motive for the killing. The investigation is ongoing.
