Police Dog Rescues PA Man Lost In Frigid Woods
The man was wandering for hours in 11 degree temperatures, authorities said.
PENNSYLVANIA — A Pennsylvania man who was lost in dangerously cold weather in a patch of Michigan woods was rescued by a police dog, multiple media sources reported.
The incident occurred at around 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 20 in Roscommon County, Michigan, in a stretch of woods off Ivy Road in Gerrish Township.
The man was in the woods for several hours, with the temperature hovering around 11 degrees, when authorities became aware and began to search. Police said they "believed they knew the identity of the subject and were concerned that he was likely cognitively impaired."

Gerrish Township K9 Ghost was dispatched, along with Deputy Darsow, to find the man. The search continued for about half a mile through thick woods until he was discovered.
He was taken by Gerrish Township EMS for treatment for exposure and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
