Police Fatally Shoot PA Man Who Fired At Officers
Police fired the fatal shots after the man fired multiple times from the second-floor window at officers, according to The Associated Press.
SPRING, PA — Police fatally shot a 34-year-old man from Spring Grove, Pennsylvania Friday night after the man broke into his estranged wife's home and fired at responding officers, according to multiple reports.
Spring Garden Township police were called to the home around 11 p.m. after receiving a report of the break-in, after which police were able to release the victim and her two dogs while the man — Payden Sells — repeatedly fired at them and inside the home, The Associated Press reported.
"The officers engaged Sells in a conversation, which included numerous statements from Sells to them, saying 'I've got plenty of ammo,'" York County District Attorney Dave Sunday told reporters at a press conference on Saturday, according to FOX43.

Police fired the fatal shots just after Sells fired multiple times from the second-floor window at officers on the scene before coming out the front door with two handguns, according to The Associated Press.
Sells was told to drop his weapons, but continued to fire at officers, police told the media.

"Immediately law enforcement returned fire, striking and killing Sells," Sunday said, according to FOX43.
Police say no civilians or officers suffered gunshot injuries, but one officer suffered a minor injury, FOX43 reported.
After reviewing body camera and doorbell camera footage, Sunday declared that evidence clearly showed that Sells fired at officers, including just before "an ambush" by police, according to The Associated Press.
"Under any definition of justification in the law, the shooting death by law enforcement was absolutely necessary in order for officers to neutralize a threat and protect themselves and others from potential serious bodily injury or death," Sunday said, according to the outlet.
The Office of the District Attorney confirmed to Patch that an officer-involved shooting occurred late Friday evening, but did not provide details.
