See The PA Hospitals Earning 5-Star Ratings From Medicare

PENNSYLVANIA — Eighteen Pennsylvania hospitals and medical centers were given 5-star ratings, the best possible, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid said.

They are among 483 hospitals nationwide to receive the coveted CMS 5-star rating based on their performance across five categories measuring quality of care.

The agency’s Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2023 include 54 more 5-star hospitals than last year.

The following Pennsylvania hospitals received the top ratings:

• Doylestown Hospital (Doylestown)
• St. Luke's Hospital Bethlehem
• Gettysburg Hospital
• Evangelical Community Hospital (Lewisburg)
• Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital
• UPMC Pinnacle Hospitals (Harrisburg)
• Philadelphia VA Medical Center
• Lancaster General Hospital
• UPMC St. Margaret (Pittsburgh)
• Hospital of University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia)
• Wellspan Waynesboro Hospital
• Bryn Mawr Hospital
• St. Luke's Hospital - Easton Campus
• Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (Philadelphia)
• Mount Nittany Medical Center (State College)
• St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus (Easton)
• St. Luke's Hospital - Monroe Campus (Stroudsburg)

The Medicare star rating system takes into account information from hospitals on mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experiences, and the timeliness and effectiveness of care.
