Snowfall Predictions Increase For Philly Area: See Latest
Winter weather advisories are now in effect as snow moves into the Philly area.

PENNSYLVANIA —Forecasters are now saying up to 5 inches of snow are possible in some parts of southeastern Pennsylvania, as a storm moves along the Northeast coast that could make for a messy commute Tuesday.
A winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service's Mount Holly office is in effect for Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties until Tuesday afternoon.
A mix of snow and freezing rain is possible and roads will be slippery Monday evening, the weather service said, as frigid temperatures turn surfaces icy.

Between 3 and 4 inches of snow and a light glaze of ice could accumulate by the time the advisory expires at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Delaware, Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Lower Bucks, and Philadelphia counties.
In Upper Bucks and Western Montgomery counties, additional accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are possible; the advisory for these areas ends at 4 p.m. Tuesday and includes several other area counties.

Slippery roads could linger into the morning commute as the snow is expected to change over to mixed precipitation on Tuesday, the weather service said. The precipitation is expected to taper off by Tuesday afternoon.
Bundle up, as high temperatures are expected to hover around 32 degrees or just below for most of the state, with colder temperatures north and west of I-95. The coldest temperatures of the year are expected on Wednesday, with daytime wind chills in the single digits and teens, the forecast said.
Here is the extended forecast through Wednesday, from the National Weather Service:
MONDAY: Light snow beginning about 4 p.m. Monday. Cloudy, with high temperatures near 30. Light wind becoming calm.
MONDAY NIGHT: Snow likely, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with low temperatures in the upper 20s. Calm winds.
TUESDAY: Snow likely mainly before noon, then switching over to rain, snow and freezing rain until about 1 p.m. Slight chance of rain and snow after 1 p.m. High temperature near 35. Northeast wind of 5 to 15 mph.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy with temperatures dropping to about 20 degrees.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny with highs in the mid-20s and west winds of 10 to 15 mph.
