Deadline Extended For PA Rent, Property Tax Rebate
Eligible individuals can receive up to $1,000 back, and the filing deadline has just been extended. What to know:
HARRISBURG, PA —State officials have extended the deadline for Pennsylvania's senior citizens and residents with disabilities to file for rebates on rent and property taxes.
The deadline, originally set for June 30, has now been extended to Dec. 31. Eligible individuals can receive up to $1,000 back, depending on their income.
“With today’s announcement, we want eligible applicants in all of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties to know that they have more time to file their rebate applications," Pennsylvania Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne said in a statement. "In addition to Department of Revenue district offices, there are a number of places across the Commonwealth where people can find in-person filing assistance.”

The rebate total depends on income. Seniors 65 and older, widowers 50 and older, and individuals with disabilities 18 and older can apply.
For those whose income is $8,000 or less, up to $1,000 in rebates can be received. The next bracket can receive $770, if their income is between $8,001 and $15,000. Those who make between $15,001 and $18,000 can get $460 back, and those who are between $18,001 - $45,000 can get $380 back.

These totals were expanded following an expansion of the program with a new law last year. The previous highest rebate available was $650. No adjustments for inflation had been made to that point.
Applications can be submitted online at the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue's site here. as they are based on annual income and property taxes or rent paid during the prior year.
