After a week of brutal heat punctuated repeatedly by an onslaught of severe rainstorms, it appears that the greater Philadelphia area may finally be getting a break.

The coming week offers the mildest high temperatures in weeks, along with mostly clear skies, a welcome break after the words "possibility of flash flooding" became daily parlance.

"Today will feature mostly sunny skies with seasonably warm temps and, as mentioned, lower humidity!" the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly, New Jersey exclaimed. "Today through Wednesday will probably be the 3 best weather days of the summer so far."

In addition to clear skies and lower temperatures, the humidity has significantly dropped, giving the air a more pleasant feel, forecasters said.

The drop in humidity is due to a high pressure system from Canada meeting a colder front out of the south, forecasters said.

Dew points were in the 60s and 70s on Sunday and will drop down to the low 50s Monday, which the National Weather Service says will feel "dry and very comfortable" or "extremely comfortable." It's also quite unusual for this time of the year.

High temperatures will stick around the low to mid 80s through Wednesday, and that's when things could take a turn. Thursday's high is 90, while Friday is up at 96, according to the forecast. A storm is also forming on the horizon.

"PS: Hot, humid and stormy conditions return for the end of the week and next weekend," the Mt. Holly station added. "It is what it is."
