Updated Labor Day Forecast As Cold Front Moves Into Eastern PA
An unusually prolonged cold front is hitting southeastern Pennsylvania, plummeting low temperatures into the 40s in places.
A cool front that will plummet low temperatures into the low-50s and upper-40s and bring some continued much needed relief to the greater Philadelphia area is in the forecast for the coming Labor Day weekend.
While isolated days or a stretch of a few days of milder temperatures are not unusual, particularly for this time of year, this sustained front of cool air will keep the high temperature below 80 into the foreseeable future, the National Weather Service said.
In general, the weekend temperatures will be consistent with what the region typically sees in October, according to forecasters, with highs and lows each about 15 degrees below the average.

"A fresh area of high pressure will move from Canada into the Northeast over the weekend and remain in place for the Labor Day holiday," said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Adam Douty. "Most locations will experience comfortable days with a good deal of sunshine and chilly nights."
The cool weather will bring both trees and grass as well as air conditioners a much needed rest. It will also likely make swimming pools, lakes, and beaches less crowded than they normally would be for the holiday weekend.

In addition to the cooler temperatures, most of the weekend looks to be bright and sunny as well, with only a few clouds Sunday night.
The cold front stems from a burst of Canadian air spreading over the northeast and the midwest. Much of that stretch of the country, from Boston to Buffalo to Chicago to Philadelphia, will experience the cooler days.
