Thunderstorms, Severe Winds Possible In Eastern PA Wednesday: Latest Forecast

The storms will mark a changing weather pattern in the Philadelphia area over the coming week.

Isolated severe thunderstorms with potentially damaging wind gusts will threaten the greater Philadelphia area on Wednesday afternoon and early evening, according to the latest forecast.

Inclement weather could arrive as early as around 2 p.m. and continue until around 9 p.m., timing shared by the National Weather Service indicates.

The most severe threats are to the south, with elevated risks in parts of Delaware and Maryland. Up to half an inch of rain is still possible in parts of the Philly area if thunderstorms do develop.

The National Weather Service advised residents to monitor weather alerts for potential watches and warnings throughout the afternoon, as the front develops.

The storm front will mark the beginning of a notably cooler and less humid period in the region.

"Highs in the 80s will largely give way to temperatures in the 60s and 70s Thursday and Friday," Accuweather shared. "Cities such as Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia, may hold onto warmer conditions Thursday with more sunshine before the cooler air settles in by Friday."

High temperatures will drop from the upper 70s to the lower 70s throughout the week, with lows down in the low 50s overnight.
