PENNSYLVANIA — Former President Donald Trump will be in Pennsylvania on Friday night as part of a "Save America" rally in support of his chosen Republican Senate candidate this fall, celebrtiy doctor Mehmet Oz.

Oz holds a narrow lead at the front of a very crowded GOP primary field, with David McCormick closely on his heels. According to the most recent aggregate of polls from RealClearPolitics, he is in front by 2.5 points. Trump's mid-April endorsement of Oz surely didn't hurt, though it came very late in the race. And many in that wing of the party have been more firmly aligned with other candidates that have beat the MAGA drum with far more fervor than Oz.

The Friday rally will be held at 8 p.m. at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Greensburg, outside of Pittsburgh. It comes as renewed focus is placed on the 2022 election cycle, which will determine the balance of power in U.S. Congress for years to come. The recent revelation that the U.S. Supreme Court plans to strike down Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that made abortion legal, has made advocates on both sides of the aisle double down on rhetoric about the election's importance.

Others still in the running for the GOP senate opening include Kathy Barnette, Jeff Bartos, and Sean Gale.
