'Very Dangerous' Homicide Suspect At Large After PA Prison Escape: Police

WARREN, PA — The manhunt continues as of Sunday for a homicide suspect who escaped from the Warren County Prison, and investigators have extended their search into New York, according to police.

Michael Charles Burham "is considered very dangerous," said police in Warren, a city just outside the Allegheny National Forest in northern Pennsylvania. Police are asking anyone who sees Burham, or has any information, to report it to authorities.

He escaped from the jail sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning, police added.

"His whereabouts are unknown," said Warren police on Saturday. "The public is asked to be vigilant and report anything out of the ordinary."

On Friday morning, officials discovered that Burham had escaped from the prison and began the search, Warren police said. He has not been found as of Sunday afternoon.

Pennsylvania State Police have assumed command of the investigation and federal agencies are assisting with the search.

Residents should call 911 if they see him.

In addition to being a homicide suspect, officials were also holding Burham on arson and burglary charges, police said. He was also associated with the kidnapping and carjacking of a local couple while trying to evade escape, added Warren police.

"Federal, state and local agencies are continuing the search for Burham as his whereabouts are unknown," police said Saturday morning. "The search area has expanded well beyond the City."

He was last seen wearing a jail-issued blue denim coat, white and orange pants, and orange shoes, according to police.

"The Pennsylvania State Police have assumed incident command due to geographical jurisdictions and resources as the search expands throughout the county and into areas of NY," added Warren police.
