Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Tuesday Morning Snow In PA

Some winter weather could impact holiday travel around the greater Philadelphia area. Here is the timing and details:

UPDATE: A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect in Eastern Pennsylvania from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Total accumulation up to an inch is expected. There could also be a light glaze of ice.

The advisory is in place in Montgomery and Bucks counties, as well as in Burlington County, New Jersey.

"Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will likely impact the Tuesday morning commute," the National Weather Service said in its advisory.

Light snowfall is possible on Christmas Eve, with the potential for up to an inch to fall along the I-95 corridor, the National Weather Service said.

Light freezing rain will arrive before 10 a.m., before turning to a wintry mix and then snow in some areas.

The storm could impact holiday travel plans, slowing down traffic on roads that do receive snow.

"If you plan to travel tomorrow morning, plan for some extra time to reach your destination! Temperatures will warm above freezing into the afternoon, which should help alleviate any slippery road conditions into the afternoon hours," the National Weather Service's Mt. Holly, new Jersey branch said in a statement.

The most significant snow impacts could be limited to the southeastern part of the state, and areas closer to I-95. A winter weather advisory was issued for parts of the region, including Philadelphia, Delaware, and Chester counties, but not Bucks or Montgomery counties.
