Will Wind Die Down For Trick-or-Treaters? See Latest PA Forecast

Roaring wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour may spook some Halloween trick or treaters around the Philly area Friday night.

Powerful winds continue whip across the Delaware Valley on Halloween afternoon as children around the region prepare for trick or treating.

A wind advisory is in place for the entire region until midnight.

Sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour are blowing around the area, with gusts as high as 50 miles per hour possible, according to forecasters.

"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects," the National Weather Service said in a statement. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."

Areas with wet ground or trees with significant foliage remaining on them are at particular risk, the agency said.

Residents are also urged to secure outdoor objects. Vehicles with high profiles should use extra caution, as they make encounter difficulties.

It will make for tricky conditions for trick or treaters, particularly as the temperature drops into the low 40s, making for a potentially frigid wind chill when the gusts come up.

The severe winds arrive on the tail of Thursday's storm, which also brought heavy rains to the region. Wind will remain strong on Saturday, with gusts up to 20 miles per hour possible again, before dying down by late Saturday night.

The wind has already contributed to several incidents around the region, with trees coming down on the Schuylkill River Trail and then, on Friday morning, on a school bus full of children in Montgomery County. Several children suffered minor injuries.
