Why are you seeking elective office?

I want to be on the board because I feel that as a pediatric nurse, and researcher I have a science based background, including child development, that would be an asset in helping to define policy for children and their education. I come from a family of educators, and as a preceptor at work, I find it fulfilling to be able to watch people learn and grow. I hope that I can be a well-respected representative to my community. I am a strong advocate for all children and can do the same for the students of Wissahickon. I look forward to seeing my community schools remain as one of the best school districts in the state. There are so many issues that come along with being a board member, but I am willing to take that on. I want to be part of the team that makes decisions to ensure our community’s children are safe and that all can reach their full potential.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

There are a few issues, but I believe open transparent communication with parents in the community transcends all others. It will be important to have open and honest conversations through newsletters and in person meetings regularly. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it seemed that one issue was top on everyone's radar, and will remain until most are vaccinated.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I believe in science, following guidance provided by experts to keep our children safe, I am a proponent of gun safety and am always willing to listen to all sides before making a decision. I am honest and truthful.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

*I do not have children in our district, to some this may be a detriment, as for me I look at it as an opportunity to be able to serve all children with an unbiased eye.

*I want all Wissahickon students to be safe and have every opportunity for a good quality education.

*I want people to be able to contact me with any questions. Communication is extremely important to me, if I can’t immediately answer questions, I will do the work to find the answers.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

This is my first entrance in the world of politics. I have been a leader in many different positions during my career at CHOP, and held a PM position in which I was responsible for 45 direct reports and a federal budget of 10 million dollars.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

"In the practice of tolerance, one's enemy is the best teacher" Dalai Lama

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

That I will work hard and do my best to serve both the students of Wissahickon, and the entire Community.
