LOWER GWYNEDD, PA — How safe is your commute? Your neighborhood? Your favorite place to shop? A local law firm has put together an interactive crash map displaying the 10 most dangerous intersections across Montgomery County to help answer those questions.

The firm, Jenkintown-based Solnick and Associates, used data from the Association for Safe International Road Travel to compile their rankings.

The most dangerous intersection in Montgomery County was, perhaps unsurprisingly, in King of Prussia. The perhaps more surprising part is the location of that intersection: at the crossing of N. Gulph Road and North Warner Road.

North Warner runs between the Wegmans at the new King of Prussia Town Center and the Walmart, and is actually a few blocks away from what would likely be considered the heart of the mall traffic. Given the recent development at the town center, the accidents could be caused by motorists becoming accustomed to new traffic patterns.

According to the firm, there were 28 accidents at that intersection in 2016, with 11 resulting in injuries.

As for the remainder of the list, Bethlehem Pike makes the list twice (in Colmar and in Montgomeryville). And several of the most dangerous intersections are located at or very close to major shopping hubs in Bala, Conshohocken, and of course King of Prussia.

The rest of the intersections included on the list are below:

2. 401 Lincoln Highway, Haverford

3. 548 Freeman School Road, Lower Salford

4. 1316 Welsh Road, Lower Gwynedd (near the border with Horsham and Montgomery townships)

5. 1358 Blue Bell Pike, Blue Bell

6. 935 Bethlehem Pike, Colmar

7. 102 Alan Wood Road, Conshohocken

8. 776 Bethlehem Pike, Montgomeryville

9. Belmont Avenue and City Avenue, Bala Cynwyd

10. Tookany Creek Parkway and Ashmead Road, Cheltenham

A total of 1,188 people lost their lives in traffic accidents in Pennsylvania in 2016. However, that number represents a significant reduction from the year before; in fact, according to Solnick, it's the lowest number of deaths in 86 years.

Editor's note: a previous version of this story incorrectly stated that one of the 10 intersections listed was in Ambler. While the address has an Ambler zip code, it's actual location is in Lower Gwynedd, near the border with Horsham and Montgomery townships.
