Ambler Olympic Club Brings Home 6 Golds From AAU Junior Olympics

Athletes from the storied Ambler youth track and field club proved they were among the nation's elite.

AMBLER, PA — Track and field athletes from the Ambler Olympic Club are among the best in the nation, and they proved it recently at the 2021 AAU Junior Olympics.

As the world's pre-eminent runners, jumpers, and throwers competed at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, some of the nation's brightest young stars battled at the age group championship in Humble, Texas.

All told, the storied, 50-year-old Ambler club brought home six gold medals, five silver medals, four bronze medals, and 11 medals for 4th to 8th place.

“The athletes were awarded national Junior Olympic medals competing against very tough competition. We certainly want to congratulate them,” head coach Mike Wallace said. “We also want to congratulate all of the athletes who competed, many of whom achieved their personal best during competition. The coaches are really proud of all of the athletes who gave a tremendous effort in such a competitive meet.”

The club qualified 57 athletes for the national championship through regional competitions. The 16 All-American winners are listed below:

  • Allison DeLisi, age 14: Silver l in 800-meter run, 4th in 1500-meter run
  • Ava Edwards, age 10: Gold in 400-meter run, Bronze in 200-meter run, 4th in 100-meter run
  • Ayla Cromedy, age 9: Gold in long jump, Bronze in high jump, Bronze in Triathlon
  • Ciana Brown, 11: 8th in 80-meter hurdles, 5th in high jump, 7th in pentathlon
  • Isabella Chu, 10: Gold in 1500-meter race walk
  • Madelyn McCartney, 13: 8th in 3000-meter run
  • Natori Williams, 12: Gold in pentathlon, Silver in high jump
  • Shyna Patel, 11: Silver in 1500-race walk
  • Virginia Krauss, 13: Bronze in 3000-meter run, 6th in 1500-meter run
  • Zahara Brown, 13: 6th in pentathlon
  • Aaron Penchansky, 10: Gold in high jump, Silver in long jump, 5th in triathlon
  • Isaiah Marc, 17-18: 7th in 100-meter run
  • Jack Clement, 13: Gold in 3000-meter race walk
  • Matthew McCall, 12: 7th in pentathlon
  • Stefon Dodoo, 14: Silver in 800-meter run, 4th in 400-meter run
  • Henry Banks Brandstadter, 17-18: 6th in high jump
