LOWER GWYNEDD, PA — The historic William Penn Inn continues to recover in Lower Gwynedd Township after a devastating blaze earlier this month.

While the a la carte restaurant still remains closed, the establishment has now reopened their banquet department. Scheduled events, weddings, banquets, and special celebrations like Thanksgiving are going ahead as scheduled.

"Our team is excited to welcome you and your guests to the Inn and is committed to making your event a wonderful and memorable experience," owners shared. "Thank you again for your continued trust and support. We look forward to working with you and helping make your upcoming event a success."

It's not yet clear when the a la carte restaurant will reopen.

The incident began just before 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9 at the restaurant on 1017 DeKalb Pike.

Authorities said the blaze started in the kitchen and continued up to the roof.

The Inn, built in 1714, bills itself as the oldest continuously operating country inn in the state.
