WHITPAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Whitpain Township Police Department is under new leadership.
Chief Mark Freeman, the former chief in Upper Providence Township, was sworn in Tuesday night at the Board of Supervisors meeting.
Freeman served Upper Providence for 35 years, starting in 1991 as a juvenile detective and D.A.R.E. officer before rising the ranks through field training officer, assistant SWAT team leader, corporal, sergeant, and lieutenant. He was named Upper Providence's chief in 2021.
His departure from his Upper Providence role in September was announced as a retirement, but he almost immediately moved into the new role in Whitpain.
