And the Winner Is... (Caldecott, Newbery, and Printz Book Award Winners)

On January 23, 2012, in the morning, librarians eagerly awaited the news of the winners of the annual Youth Mead Awards, which include the famous Caldecott (award for best pictures, er, illustrated book), Newbery (outstanding children's literature), and the Printz (best in teen literature). Before I tell you the big three, there are other awards as well offered by the American Library Association. You can read the full listing, plus honor books, in this press release by ALA.
