Another gem from Cole Hamels.

Another gem from Cole Hamels.

On a night when Jayson Werth was in all the headlines (despite no longer being on the team)  Cole Hamels is the name everyone is talking about today after Hamels allowed just  five hits, one run, one walk and struck out six in his first complete game of 2011.

It was a mixed reaction for Werth as “The Bank” was filled with boos and cheers as Werth made his first appearance in Philadelphia since he signed his mega $126 million contract with the Nats late last year.

Hamels hit a triple (his first) and the first by a Phillies pitcher since the late Cory Lidle's at Pittsburgh on April 29, 2006 kicked the Phightins into gear.

Ibanez entered the game 0-34  but snapped his horrendous  streak with a ground-rule double to center field in the fourth and another double in the seventh for good measure.  The Phils won 4-1 to improve to 19-9 on the season (The 151st straight sellout in a row at Citizens Bank Park)
