Representative Stephens Sends Out Misleading Mailer

Representative Stephens Sends Out Misleading Mailer Implying An Endorsement by Ambler Mayor Who Has Endorsed Will Sylianteng

Yesterday, the Todd Stephens campaign sent out a misleading mailer to Ambler residents implying that Ambler Borough Mayor Bud Wahl was endorsing his campaign for the State House.  This was news to both his opponent's (Will Sylianteng) campaign and Mayor Wahl, as Mayor Wahl had endorsed Will Sylianteng for the State House seat which includes Ambler.

Will Sylianteng released a statement in response to the Stephens mailer and said:

"This type of political gamesmanship is precisely the reason I decided to run for this seat. People are out of work and the quality of our schools are being destroyed by state budget cuts which favor big business, especially gas drilling, at the expense of working people and their kids.

While I am not surprised at the tactic employed by Rep. Stephens given the number of times he has switched positions - like on teacher's strikes - or misrepresented numbers - like school funding - in his numerous mail pieces, I am saddened that politics as usual is the norm and politicians like Rep. Stephens are allowed to do these things with virtually no repercussions.  We deserve better from our elected officials.

I've promised to limit myself to only 3 terms, because we need leaders who will go and do a job, rather than just trying to keep one."
