Welcome Back Chase. Welcome Back!

Welcome Back Chase. Welcome Back!

It was a warm and humid May night, and the largest regular-season crowd to ever pack into Citizens Bank Park (45,841) came to see a man who has been missing all season, Mr. Chase Utley. He ended the night 0 for 5, but that didn't matter one bit to a single fan, as they cheered him from the moment he took the field to stretch to when he grounded out to second in his final at-bat.

I have been at over a dozen games already this year, but none felt like this. From the first hit of the game, it felt different, it felt right. By no means do I think this was the end of the hitting issues, as they have had them the last few years. They will have games where they get 14 hits and score 10 runs and games where they have 4 hits and no runs, but the Phils tonight showed us what they are capable of, and it looked good. Jimmy Rollins, Placido Polanco and Raul Ibanez all homered.

Cole pitched well again to improve to 6-2 on the season. The break during the long bottom of the 3rd where the Phillies scored 7 runs, may have contributed to his less than stellar 4th, but still a great outing. The Phillies are now 29-18, the best in the National League and 2nd best in all of baseball, and we still don't have all our players back.
