Wissahickon School District PR Nightmare Continues
WSD will not lift veil of secrecy. Community demands public meetings on big-ticket issues. School Board elections promise to deliver new perspectives.

The Wissahickon School District has nothing to report.
Despite being embroiled in contract negotiations for teachers (whose contract is up in June) and support staff (who have been working without a contract since June 2012), the closing of a school and redistricting, the only news to report is that the administration is apparently moving forward with their agenda. And it's nobody's business.
The WSD caused quite a stir when they hired Jeffrey Sultanik as their chief negotiator for the support staff contract negotiations. The attorney is notorius for his legacy of dissolving unions.

Despite public outcry about the dangers of using contract employees in an educational arena, the WSD recently began outsourcing substitute teacher positions. It is expected that transportation and facilities staff will follow.
Insiders believe that teachers are next.

"There is no accountability from this administration and board, they do whatever they want and answer to no one", said a parent of a Shady Grove student "they are not thinking of the kids, teachers or staff. Why won't they hold update meetings? Their meetings are all one-way, you never get heard. Who handles business like this?"
The WSD manages their business affairs in private with public dollars.
Perhaps when the Department of Education settles the civil rights lawsuit currently underway, they will be forced into accountability with public funds.
With so many critical issues being managed simultaneously and dependent on a board in turmoil, how can taxpayers and residents have any measure of confidence in the direction or decisions of this administration or board?
The practice and policy of accountability for taxpayer dollars should be a standard from this administration and should not have to wait for an influx of new board members. It should be demanded now. By you.
