Chris Sanni of Ambler To Represent the U.S. at the Inaugural ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships

The USTA has announced that Chris Sanni of Ambler, Pa. is among the 24 players who will represent the United States at the inaugural ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships, the senior equivalent of tennis’ Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions. The 24 American athletes will be competing against players from 25 other countries. The ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships is the highest-ranked event on the ITF Seniors Circuit for male and female players in the age categories of 35-45, and will be held from March 16- 29 in Antalya, Turkey. Prior to this year, these championships had been part of the ITF Seniors World Team Championships.

Schofield, a Villanova tennis team alumnus, is now the associate head tennis coach at Swarthmore College. He has won several major tennis titles, most recently the Silverball 35 grass court singles and doubles championships. Schofield is on the advisory board for the Down the Line and Beyond foundation that’s purpose is to facilitate character and positive tennis development for Philadelphia’s underprivileged youth and talented youth tennis players.

Sanni currently serves as the director of tennis at the Germantown Cricket Club. A 2014 USTA National grass court doubles champion, he played collegiate tennis at Rutgers.

American teams will be defending titles in the Margaret Court Cup (Women’s 45) for third consecutive year, and the Dubler Cup (Men’s 45).

Following the ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships, the World Individual Championships will be held from March 16-29.
