Dr. Charles Henry Jost, 88, of Ambler
Dr. Charles Henry was a graduate from the Valley Forge Military Academy class of '42.

Dr. Charles Henry Jost, 88, of Ambler, PA died on May 7, 2012 at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Dr. Merylee E. (Werthan) Jost.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 7, 1924 to the late Charles H. and Charlotte A. (Applin) Jost. He was a graduate from the Valley Forge Military Academy class of '42.
Dr. Jost served our country in the US Army in the 8th Armed Infantry as a Liaison Agent. He received his BS in teaching and received his M. ED at Temple University and later earned his D. ED. degree in 71'.
Dr. Jost was the Supervisory Principle for the East Pikeland Elementary School until 66' and was associated with the Phoenixville Area School District. He was an experienced yachtsman having owned numerous boats including a unique Tahiti Ketch. He once set the trip time record for sailing yachts from Annapolis, MD to Bermuda with his Hinckley Bermuda 40.
Dr. Jost was also an accomplished and meticulous wood craftsman, who built his first boat and completed maintenance on all his boats. He made and repaired much of his home structures with his well equipped home carpentry shop, and totally restored his 1951 MG/TD sports car. Dr. Jost was an avid skier with his early Hart skies.
He was an original bond holder and life ski ticket member of the Killington Vermont Ski Resort and member of the Wissahickon Ski Club. Dr. Jost loved traveling on lengthy ocean cruises and traveling abroad. He loved spending time with his family and special friends at cook-outs at their water-front summer home, and at the neighborhood pool. He enjoyed cultivating various berries to be enjoyed throughout the year.
Along with his wife Merylee, Charles is survived by his brother-in-law George B. Werthan, sister-in-law Xandra L. Werthan, and nephew Sidney B. Werthan. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home, 951 E. Butler Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. The viewing will be from 9:30-10:30AM.
Interment will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery.
