Elderly Woman Killed After Car Crashes Into Montco Home

FRANCONIA TOWNSHIP, PA -- An elderly woman was killed overnight when a car smashed into the bedroom of a home in Franconia, police said.

The incident occurred at around 12:02 a.m. Friday on the 300 block of Harleysville Pike.

A driver described as only a man in his 20s drove his 1995 Toyota into the southwest corner of the home, authorities said. The car struck the bedroom.

First responders on the scene worked to extricate the victim from the home, but she passed away.

The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

It's not yet clear what caused the man to crash into the house.

Franconia Police and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office have launched an investigation.
