Fake PECO Callers Demanding Money For Fake Invoices In Montco, Police Warn

Don't fall for this PECO scam that is spreading throughout the area.

Police in Lower Salford are warning the public to be extra cautious when giving out personal information due to a PECO scam spreading throughout the area.

Callers pretending to be with PECO are telling residents that a "shut off crew" is coming to their residence to shut down their power unless they purchase a Green Dot card as a form of payment, police said.

The callers claim that the victim has a past due invoice and if payment is not remitted immediately, the shut off crew will be sent.
