Fatal Fire Overnight In Whitpain Township

WHITPAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — A fatal fire occurred overnight in Whitpain Township, according to sources and authorities. American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania confirmed volunteers were on the scene of a fatal fire.

Whitpain Township Police confirmed that there was one fatality but did not release any further information Thursday morning, saying that the incident was still under investigation. Montgomery County Detectives are leading the investigation.

The Red Cross said it was "providing care and comfort for three people" impacted by the blaze.

Township Line Road and Pemberton Road were blocked off to traffic in the wake of the blaze. Township Line was closed between Butler and Narcissa, and Butler was closed near Township Line, police said.

The cause of the fire and the identity of the victim have not yet been released by police, although 6ABC reports that it was a man in his 50s.
