First Fridays Coming to Downtown Ambler

Businesses are banding together to create First Fridays in Ambler beginning in May.

Over 20 business owners met with representatives from Ambler Main Street on Tuesday night to discuss beginning First Friday celebrations in downtown Ambler.

Candy St Martine-Pack, owner of , said the business owners on Tuesday night were very excited, and she was bombarded with questions and offers of help on Wednesday from business owners and community members who could not make it on Tuesday.

The plan is to start Friday, May 4 and the committee wants to have music nad art downtown, as well as children’s activities, food and drink specials at both the restaurants but also at food booths along the sidewalk, and they are asking the shops to stay open until at least 9 p.m. on those Fridays.

“People really, really want this to happen,” said St Martine-Pack.

St Martine-Pack added that they are planning on starting small and building on it.

Businesses are encouraged to have specials and giveaways throughout the night.  Sponsors are also wanted for each Friday and businesses not in the downtown are welcome to contact Ambler Main Street about setting up a table along the sidewalk.

The Kids Activity Zone area will have arts and crafts for kids, face painting, kids entertainment, and more. The committee is looking for businesses to get involved in this aspect as well. Their examples were skate demonstrations, dance parties, sports and more.

The next committee meeting Tuesday, 7 p.m. at . Volunteers for all aspects of helping to setup, plan and coordinate First Friday’s in Ambler.

RSVP for the first First Friday on Facebook and invite friends to help get the word out. Ambler Main Street will randomly draw a name from the RSVPs on Facebook to receive $25 Ambler bucks to be spent downtown.

“It’s what the people want, it’s what the businesses want,” said St. Martine-Pack.
