Harcum College Appoints Ambler Resident to Board

Dr. Colena Johnson-Kemp, an Ambler resident, was named to the Harcum College Board of Trustees.

Harcum College has appointed Ambler resident, Dr. Colena Johnson-Kemp, J. Michael McNamara and Dr. Carolyn Saligman to its Board of Trustees.

Dr. Colena Johnson-Kemp currently serves as the Associate Director of Laboratory Animal Resources at Merck & Co. Inc. A graduate of Tuskegee University, she received her Master’s Degree in laboratory animal medicine from Pennsylvania State University. In addition to working as a clinical and research veterinarian, Dr. Johnson-Kemp has held various board positions, including the Pennsylvania Society for Biomedical Research and the Drug, Device and Cosmetic Board for the State of Pennsylvania. Her veterinary experience will be a significant addition to the Harcum Board of Trustees, particularly as Harcum’s Veterinary Technology and Animal Center Management programs continue to grow.

J. Michael McNamara is the CEO of Impact Health, a leading provider of event-based employee health screenings and wellness programs. A former Vice President of Marketing at AmerisourceBergen, McNamara has a background in consumer products, pharmaceuticals, business development, acquisitions and enterprise sales. He also established the McNamara Trust Easement, which conserves one of the largest unprotected properties within the Great Marsh in Chester County’s East Nantmeal Township.

A psychologist in private practice, Dr. Carolyn Saligman brings a wealth of medical and veterinary experience to Harcum’s Board of Trustees. After completing her doctorate in 2000, she practiced at a number of local medical institutions, including the Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment, Albert Einstein Medical Center, MossRehab and Green Mountain at Fox Run. Dr. Saligman also has a strong interest in veterinary issues, particularly in pet overpopulation and shelter medicine, and volunteers at numerous veterinary philanthropic initiatives, such as the Mayor’s Alliance for Philadelphia.

“The dedication of these new board members to Harcum College will enable us to grow as an academic institution and better serve our students,” said Harcum President Dr. Jon Jay DeTemple. “With their breadth of knowledge, veterinary and healthcare expertise and commitment to education, they will all make invaluable contributions to our many academic programs and to the larger Harcum community.”
