How many of us suffer from dry skin and hair in the cold winter months? As much as we don't like it, that time of year is upon us!
You may be struggling trying to find the products that will help keep your hair and skin hydrated, without containing harmful chemicals or breaking the bank. Natural oils and remedies tend to be pure which makes them a better choice for many people. Other over-the-counter products have a ton of ingredients in them, most of which contain preservatives. Alcohol and fragrances are other common ingredients in commercial products that can cause irritation, an allergic reaction or just help to dry the skin even more. One of the many perks of going natural is most scrubs, creams and soaks can be made in your own home.
Avacado is one of the best foods for hydration, both by ingestion and external use. Making an avacado mask mixed with olive oil is sure to hydrate any dry face. Egg yolks are rich in fat and proteins, and are naturally moisturizing. They are great for your tresses during the frigid winter months, or any other time of year. Honey also naturally locks in moisture, and in combination with avacado or olive oil, would make a great mask for both your hair and skin. The posibilities are endless.

When showering, be sure not to have the water temperature too high. If you're in a rush, reaching for an organic moisturizer is always an option. We have found great luck with the staff at Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting. Their knowledge of the skincare department is amazing and we are continuing to learn more every time we stop in.
No matter what, the number one rule is water, water, water! Be sure to drink plenty of it, and stay away from things high in caffeine and sugar. Healthy skin and hair starts with smart and healthy choices. If you find a great combination of things that work for you, please feel free to share in the comments section. We love hearing feedback.
