Lower Gwynedd Gets $937K For Bethlehem Pike Intersection

Lower Gwynedd will receive $937,700 in funding from the state to improve a key intersection in township.

LOWER GWYNEDD, PA — The governor's office announced on Friday that 45 transportation projects around the state had received funding, including several in Montgomery County and one in Lower Gwynedd.

Lower Gwynedd will receive $937,700 for improvements to the Spring House Roadway, like widening, pedestrian walkways, and traffic signals in hopes of improving the intersection at Bethlehem Pike, Norristown Road, and Sumneytown Pike.

“Our multimodal investments support important projects that help residents and local economies,” said Governor Wolf in a statement. “We are making possible improvements that will bring significant benefits to these communities.”

Projects in 22 counties around the state benefited from the funding, officials said. A total of $41.5 million has been invested.

Funding comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Multimodal Transportation Fund.

Projects were chosen based on safety benefits, along with the potential to increase job creation, energy efficiency, and overall sustainability, authorities said.
