Montco Community College Launches 'Music Technology Suite'
An innovative, state of the art new "Music Technology Suite" has opened up at Montgomery County Community College.
BLUE BELL, PA — Students of music have a unique new environment in which to hone their craft at Montgomery County Community College.
The new Music Technology Suite is a cutting edge "live learning lab"featuring the latest in music and audio production technology. There is also state of the art vintage gear, like an analog tape machines and the SSL XL 9000 K Mixing Console with 5.1 Surround Sound.
“With this new addition, we will be able to offer the entire scope of the recording process for our students,” Michael Kelly, assistant professor of music and coordinator of the Sound Recording and Music Technology program said in a statement. “And, with this collaborative approach, we hope to grow a network of professionals in the region and become a hub where artists of all levels can grow and share knowledge.”

The suite will support the school's Sound Recording and Music Technology degree program.
“If someone had told me when I graduated high school what I would be doing today, I never would have believed them,” said 2017 graduate Kevin Folk, who has worked with Paul Worley, the original producer of the Dixie Chicks, and who was recently hired as engineer/producer for Screaming Parrot Studios in Pottstown, the school said.

Three members of the Montco faculty were critical in heading up the project: Kelly, David Ivory, and Steve Wanna. They worked closely with PZS Architects of Philadelphia and WSDG Architectural Acoustic Consulting Services of New York.
In addition to classroom use and research, the suite will host musical performances, including the Lively Arts Series.
