Montco's Testing Site Plateau Continues At 15 Percent Positive
While that percentage is down significantly from a peak a month ago, the rate of positive coronavirus cases has held steady for two weeks.
WHITPAIN, PA — The rate of positive tests at Montgomery County Community College's coronavirus testing site has held steady at a plateau of about 15 percent since it's opening two weeks ago, officials said.
This is a noticeable drop from what authorities are hoping was a peak in the county at around 24 percent, as recorded at the old site at Temple University Ambler on April 6.

A total of 3,266 tests have been done at the new site in Whitpain, and officials have received results on 3,117 of them — about 95 percent. A total of 466 of those are positive.
"It really feels like some true progress," Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said.

However, the 15 percent rate has remained largely unchanged over recent days, indicating that while social distancing is working in limiting the spread of the virus to some extent, new cases are continuing to pop up.

"We're just on the cusp of starting to (stop the spread), but we just can't let up," Arkoosh said, urging residents to continue to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Montgomery County announced 88 new cases Monday, along with three more deaths, bringing the county's total to 4,570 cases and 314 deaths as of Monday evening.
