New Varicose Vein Treatment at the Vein Institute of Blue Bell!

New treatment for venous reflux leading to varicose and spider veins being offered at the Vein Institute of Blue Bell.

It is estimated that more than 30 million Americans suffer from disease of the veins. About 50-55% of women and 40-45% of men suffer from some form of vein problems. Varicose veins affects 1 out of every 2 people older than the age of 50.

Many treatments for varicose veins involve a trip to a hospital, several needle sticks, or wearing compression stocking for several weeks after a procedure. However, there is a new FDA approved treatment that can eliminate any of the above potential discomfort.

The VenaSeal closure system, a product of Medtronic, is the only non-tumescent, non-thermal, non-sclerosant procedure that uses a proprietary medical adhesive delivered endovenously (into the vein) to close the vein. Performed in an office setting, the procedure is administered without the use of tumescent anesthesia, avoiding patient discomfort associated with multiple needle sticks.

Dr. S. Yedida Goldman says, "VenaSeal is a viable treatment option for anyone who has venous reflux disease leading to varicose veins. This procedure minimizes needle sticks and usually eliminates the use of compression stockings. Unlike other vein treatments, the recovery time is much quicker with minimal restrictions on post treatment activity. Practically all of our clients leave and return to normal activity the same day."

Currently, the Vein Institute of Blue Bell, is the only vein center in Eastern Pennsylvania to perform the VenaSeal procedure. For more information, contact our physicians and staff at 267-41-MYLEG or visit our website at www.vibb.org.
